Astrology is a study based on the cause and effect relationship.

According to the traditions and beliefs of Astrology, a relative change in the positions of celestial objects such as stars, planets, constellations, etc can effect the lives of human beings. Basically astrology is forecasting and predicting personal information about an individual, his/career, behavior, character, personality, wealth issues, issues related to their children, etc.

A person who practices Astrology is known as an Astrologer.

Types of Astrology :

There are three most familiar types of Astrology:

1. Chinese Astrology:
Chinese astrology is related to Chinese astronomy and philosophy. According to Chinese astrology there are 5 planets, 10 celestial stems, 12 earthly branches and Solar and lunar calendar.

The 5 planets are:

2. Vedic Astrology
Vedic astrology is also known as Indian astrology. Astrology has always remained an important part of Indian culture. According to Vedic astrology, birth charts are prepared. To prepare those birth charts, an individual’s Date of Birth, Time of Birth and Place of birth are the most important aspects. Without any of these information, one cannot prepare birth chart of an individual. Birth chart is prepared after the birth of a baby. According to Vedic astrology, there are 7 stars and 12 Zodiac signs.

The seven stars are:

Western astrology is most popular in America and Europe.
According to Western astrology there are 12 Zodiac signs and houses from Aries through Pisces.
Western astrology can be used in Chinese and Vedic astrology to create birth charts.

Basically the astrologers use these signs, stars and houses for calculation. Their prediction is based on their calculation. It completely depends on the astrologer and his skills.

Astrology provides a deep understanding of self and others and also creates awareness among people.

One can use their hidden talents and use them in enhancing their personal growth.

It helps in improving our ability of listening and working on our sixth sense.

It can be applied in business or work related issues as in which career or which venture to invest in.

Which field will yield more wealth and enhance our economical growth can be predicted.

It can also be applied to anticipate health of an individual. Certain individuals are asked by astrologers to wear gems stones so that they can be
protected by their strong vibrations. Also astrologers predict duration of life of an individual, the kind of disease they will suffer, the kind of places or objects they need to remain away from.

Most important astrology in most commonly used for predicting married life of couples. Before marrying each other, the families of the couples match their horoscopes to know their compatibility, the stability of their married life, behavior, character of each individual and their future.

Apart from applications and benefits of astrology, there are criticisms of astrology.

As we can see the people are becoming and developing a practical approach towards life.

Many people find astrology based on superstitions. Whereas some consider it as a science and some as art.

Many people reject astrology as they believe in working on their free will and on the destiny, predictions, etc.

According to them we can not held the universal objects responsible for any good or bad thing happening around us. If future can be forecasted by individuals, then why are they not successful in saving lives of people from natural calamities, terrorist attacks, wars, natural death, etc.
